April 2009

This month magazine has a decidedly Airfix theme. The prospect of the forthcoming competition has resulted in an all time record of Airfix builds (well at least since the 70s). Richard finishes his very impressive TSR2, Dale, his HMS Fearless and yours truly manages to get in on the act with a challenging Queen Mary II.

Aside from Airfix related builds, Russell completes his Munition Schlepper and we very nearly have Paul completing his Yamaha M1.

We also have some exciting news on the next group build, a preview of the forthcoming model shows, as this year’s club show season kicks off at Poole. We have a review of the Yamaha YZR M1 Super Detail Set and our standard look at the modelling press.

March 2009
The Romsey Modeller March 2009

In the first issue of the Romsey Modeller, Pat completes his masterclass on painting aircrew, Paul describes the build of his award winning Beaufighter and Richard gives us a further update on his TRS2. Russell builds what is shaping up to be another impressive armour kit, this time he is tackling a SD.KFZ 252 Munition Schlepper. To complete the build articles Dale tackles an unusual subject in documenting the final days of HMS Fearless. We also have a piece from our Foreign Correspondent, with Pat visiting two modelling shows in France while Brian tells us his modelling history. Our normal news spots and round up of the modelling press completes an impressive 28 pages.

February 2009

In the final edition of Update before it morphed into the Romsey Modeller, we have two very different Hornet builds, Gary takes on a F/A 18, while Pat writes up his impressive USS Hornet that he built a couple of years ago. Russell continues producing the quality armour projects that won him the club’s annual competition with the completion of his Stug article. Richard takes a break from modelling in miniature to take on the new Airfix 1/48 TRS2. We also have a hugely interesting piece from Nigel Denchfield, an Update reader who tells us about a very personal Spitfire project. We have some holiday snaps from Phil and a report on our first show of the year at Yeovilton from Paul. Finally we have a huge piece from Pat which will be continued next month on painting aircrew for dioramas.
