Hello Matthew,
My experience with TS13 has been the same as many other modellers, it does tend to ‘burn’ decals, or what eventually looks like crazing or cracking. Some advise putting on very light coats to start with and allowing the coats to dry. Only then can you apply the heavier ‘wet’ coats. Personally I found better results by decanting it and airbrushing it on, though I only ever tried TS13 over decals once, and failed. My other failures have been just over paint.
This article was written about 6-7 years ago and as is hinted in the text I was looking to move over to 2 part clears, which I did about 4 years ago. Since then I’ve had no problems clearing decals. My first attempt was with my Ducati 888 a write up on which can be found on the article section of the site. I did however use MR Hobby clears for a while with success before switching.
For me TS13 is not a product I would consider using anymore as there are ‘safer’ ones around.

Hi, and thanks for sharing your hard earned experiences. Do you have any advice concerning decals? Many people advise against using TS13 over decals as it seems too burn them. Have you experienced this, or could it simply be that a number of mist coats need to be applied first before going on to the wet coats? Thanks.

Dear Tony;
This was my introduction to the Romseys. I’m very impressed. I will be starting soon
on the “Crocodile” but gave up immediately on the masking and cussed substatially as
to why Eduard didn’t provide decals – it would be so sensible. So the ill wind blew much good as I found a decal supplier on the web. I did the checkered patterns on an
Excel spreadsheet and am waing now as a write for them to arrive. Wish me luck.

I’m glad you liked the build. Unfortunatley the TK was a limited run, so it’s not available anymore. Profil24 do a full resin kit for the same car which is much more accurate than this example. Happy Modelling
