As it now the end of a long day this is a very quick update on our fantastic day at Airfix. This will be updated over the next few days to tell you the story of the day and what we learnt about this brilliant company.

On the 22nd September the club will be making a visit to the Airfix head office in Margate. The agenda of the visit is

Venue: Hornby Hobbies, Margate , Kent CT9 4JX
11:00 Arrive at Hornby HQ ( Please use the main reception entrance at the front of the building, car parking spaces will be available.)
11:30 Trade Show Room
12:00 Airfix team presentation followed by Q&A
14: 00 Lunch
14:30 Warehouse walk ( Dispact through to Airfix spares)
15:30 Afternoon Tea
15:45 Visitor Centre and Shop*
16:30 End of Visit
*Please note that Airfix club members receive a 20% discount in the Visitor Centre shop, please ensure you have your Airfix club membership card to hand when purchasing items
With around 15 members looking at making the trip to Margate, this will be a fantastic day. Please contact me at the normal email address to let me know if you are coming so I can organise car sharing.
On Sunday 4th September Romsey Modellers held its 3rd Build a Model in a Day event. 10 intrepid members took up the challenge and were found equal to the task when at 4.30pm after just 7 hours of hard graft some fantastic models were placed on the competition table. After judging Malcolm Grant’s Sherman was deemed a worthy winner, however everybody who took part should be congratulated on their efforts which produced models that would grace many a show’s exhibition tables.

Our next club meeting will take place on Wednesday 21st September at the Ampfield Village Hall from 8:00pm. The meeting will be a ‘normal’ night though we’ll have an exhibition from Brian Sampson and it’ll be the last chance to organise the Airfix visit transport, as that’s the next day! We look forward to seeing you.
