The last club meet of the year was held on the 17th December with an evening of snacks and general Christmas over eating. We also held the results of the competition from the mid November evening.

The overall winner was chosen on the night to be the diorama from Richard showing the Ohio limping into Malta. As it was beyond Richard’s bed time, and hes not allowed sugary stuff, he designated his Commander In Chief (Louise) to come along and accept the award and accolades.
Class 2 winner, Duncan, was awol with a holiday in Spain considered to be more important than a club night. The committee will be having words:)
Last night, 19th November, we held the annual competition. A slightly smaller turnout this year with the junior section unfortunately having no entries. It was still a good turnout with some excellent kits on display.

Scale Model World 2025 was held on the 8th and 9th of November at the International Centre in Telford.
Seven of us travelled up on the Friday meeting at Warwick services on the way and all of us catching up at the Holiday Inn near the Centre.
Due to entry band system only 4 were allowed in the hall to start the set up whilst the rest of us could carry the kits to the door to get collected. This was completed quite quickly with the rest of us being able to get our wristbands that evening.
Firstly we must congratulate Paul and Luke.
Luke won Gold in the Class 83 (Diorama – Civilian Vehicles.) for his Locomotive and Paul gained a Silver for his Corsair in Class 16 (Aircraft – 1/47 scale and larger ASD, ASC.). Considering the competition and the quality overall of the kits, this is some achievement.
This was my first time at the show as a whole weekend club visit and was surprised on the Saturday to see the size of the queue (IPMS Members) at 09:00 reaching some distance. Thinking that I already had a wristband I confidently strode to the front of the queue hearing some muttering. I have since found out that I should have queued with the rest. Oh well!
Saturday morning was a blur of people trying to get to their favourite traders to grab any bargains. It reminded me of an old fashion Christmas Sale
On the Saturday we also welcome Sheridan, Grey and Dan to the table as well as the Travelling Willbury’s (Darren, Luke and Simon) on a day trip to the show.
Saturday was a busy day that slowly turned round to the inspection of the club tables with numbers in the hall reducing as we reached the close of show at 18:00. Sunday was certainly not as busy as the day before but a good amount came through the doors.
You could see the trades were seemingly doing well with a lot of shelving beginning to look quite empty.
Sunday arrived with the queues for entrance not so long and much quicker. I did not have to confidently flounce to the front this time. Numbers were still going well with a bit more interest in the clubs being shown. The main morning topic on the table was of the park run, of which 2 of our number constantly kept on about best times and how great it is to be able to run at these events. They spent an amazing amount of time waiting for the times to appear on the app, by this time however, we had zoned out and left them to those tales of one foot in front of another. More purchases were made and a continuation of meeting others was in full flow. David spent an hour or two at the presentation ceremony to collect Luke’s award, only to find that you just picked it up at the competition table. How he came bouncing in laughing and full of the joy’s.
It’s a bit of a trip to reach Telford, but overall, well worth it.
There a few few YouTube videos to watch if you do a search for Scale Model World 2025. Be warned though, they are quite long!
Quote of the weekend:-
Paul – Do I get to collect my Silver from the award ceremony
Richard – I don’t know Paul. Iv’e only won Gold before

The Club Cube Awards went to the following people who we thought were worthy of the prize from around the 3 halls
This is a gallery of pictures from the show and competition area.
Once again the show was held in the 3 halls at Thornbury Leisure Centre on the 3rd August 2025.
4 of us stalwarts turned up for the day for some serious shopping and perusing of many clubs displays. A large amount of gaming was also in evidence.
Paul put his Corsair in the competition as well as Duncan with his Zero. Simon entered his Nashorn in the Armour section but was put in the diorama area as it had a tree and 3 figures.
Simon came away with pride of having entered and bot Paul and Duncan got first place.
Although a fair distance, this is a good enough size of show to make the journey worthwhile.
Another good show with 5 attendees and a few visitors. It was good to see Mark Husband visit.
The unveiling of the cube “Long Live The Cube” went well with team though the response from the hall was not the major stampeding and chanting as we had hoped. Lesson learnt was that a bigger stand is required and probably a bit higher.
Congratulation go the the Great War SIG who got best disply.
