Romsey Modellers 2025 Winners Gallery

The last club meet of the year was held on the 17th December with an evening of snacks and general Christmas over eating. We also held the results of the competition from the mid November evening.

Class 1 – Aircraft 1/72 and below – Simon De Montefalcon

Class 2 – Aircraft above 1/72 – Duncan Baird Murray

Class 3 – Military Vehicles 1/72 and below – Malcolm Grant

Class 4 – Military Vehicles above 1/72 – Simon James

Class 5 – Figures – Tony Adams

Class 6 – Civilian Vehicles – Paul Adams

Class 7 – Ships – Steve Herridge

Class 8 – Diorama – Richard Stewart

Class 9 – Sci Fi, Fantasy and Space – Gray Sharpling

Class 12 – Vintage (pre 1980 tooled kits) – Matt Bourton

The overall winner was chosen on the night to be the diorama from Richard showing the Ohio limping into Malta. As it was beyond Richard’s bed time, and hes not allowed sugary stuff, he designated his Commander In Chief (Louise) to come along and accept the award and accolades.

Class 2 winner, Duncan, was awol with a holiday in Spain considered to be more important than a club night. The committee will be having words:)

Romsey Annual Competition 2025

Last night, 19th November, we held the annual competition. A slightly smaller turnout this year with the junior section unfortunately having no entries. It was still a good turnout with some excellent kits on display.

Romsey Modellers Annual Competition – The Results

At our December meeting the category winners of the clubs annual competition were announced. The winners then went forward to be judged for the John Cox Memorial trophy awarded for the best model of 2013.

This years winner was Jim Bettley with his Schwimwaggon Das Reich

Build a Model in a Day 2012

On Sunday 2nd September Romsey Modellers will be holding its 4th Build a Model in a Day event at Ampfield Village Hall.

The aim as the title suggests is to build a model including painting and finishing in a single day. We will be starting at 9am with judging planned for 4:30pm.

Last year saw Malcolm Grant winning with his 1/72 Sherman .

The club will be covering the cost of the hall and trophies for the competition. As usual you are welcome to build any model ; the only rule is that to enter it in the competition it must be un-started at the beginning of the day (including .bases or other display materials!).

Richard Stewart wins Best in Show at Hendon

Romsey Modellers came home with the Best in Show trophy for the second year in succession as Richard Stewart’s USS Hornet took the top prize. Following on from Paul Adams win last year Richard’s model was a very popular winner, getting just recognition for his 6 years of hard work. The challenge is now on for us to find a winner next year!

We also had another class winner with Russell Eden winning the Best Diorama for his Berlin 1946 model

Build a Model in a Day 2011

On Sunday 4th September Romsey Modellers held its 3rd Build a Model in a Day event. 10 intrepid members took up the challenge and were found equal to the task when at 4.30pm after just 7 hours of hard graft some fantastic models were placed on the competition table. After judging Malcolm Grant’s Sherman was deemed a worthy winner, however everybody who took part should be congratulated on their efforts which produced models that would grace many a show’s exhibition tables.

Build a Model in A Day 2011

On Sunday 4^th September Romsey Modellers will hold our third build a model in a day event. We ask an entry fee of £3 to cover the cost of the hall and trophies for the competition.

Tangmere Cold War Competition

Over the last six months we have been undertaking a group build to supply models to exhibit at Tangmere Military Museum. Peter Lloyd sponsored the build, providing kits and prizes. The competition was judged at our March meeting.

On Saturday 26^th March a number of members made the trip to Tangmere to present the models to the museum. The models were accepted by the trustees of the museum, who expressed that they were very pleased with the models. David Burleigh was good enough to provide us a guided tour of the museum.
